An intrepid team of Steamin’ Billy reps have just taken part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for the Matt Hampson Foundation!
On Tuesday 11th October, ten Steamin’ Billy staff, led by Ben (our IT solutions man cum mountaineer), attempted to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. As we’re writing with a slightly more cheery tone, it’s safe to assume we all made it back alive and well!
Our litte team started dark and early at the ungodly hour of 07:00am in Horton, Ribblesdale, before making our way to the foot of peak one – Pen Y Ghent. After a grueling slog to a summit lost in the clouds, up slippery slopes and in some relatively treacherous conditions, peak one was conquered and it was on to peak two. Whernside became more hazardous as we climbed and by the time we reached the top we were subject to some pretty dire weather conditions.
So, unfortunately, due to high winds and poor conditions, we were forced into retiring to The Station Inn in Ribblehead for much needed beer. We’re projected to have raised almost £2000 for the Matt Hampson Foundation – which isn’t a bad effort!
Our courageous team included Cindy and Billy, Richard and Terri from the White bear, Adam from the Railway, Jasmine from the Wilmot , Andy from the Cow and Plough , Joe from the Paget and Phil and Taff from the Western. As mentioned above, Ben our IT solutions man led us in our sporting challenge.
